A bumper crowd of 30,000 people will flock to Adelaide’s’ Morphetville Racecourse today to see wonder mare Black Caviar attempt to score a 21st straight victory in the 2012 Goodwood.

It will be the second time in two weeks the world’s best sprinter has brought a capacity crowd to the Adelaide track after she produced a stellar run when claiming an Australasian record for consecutive victories in the Robert Sangster Stakes.

The Group 1 $500,000 Goodwood stands to be the champion’s 11th elite level victory and she will have regular jockey Luke Nolen on board when she runs from barrier eight.

After riding her in trackwork during the week Nolen believes the unbeaten daughter of Bel Esprit has improved since her last start and is ready to again put on a show for the people of Adelaide.

“The work was first class and anyone who goes to Morphettville on Saturday won’t be disappointed,” Nolen said.

“I am very much looking forward to Saturday.”

The winner of more than $5.4 million in prize money has drawn barrier eight and Nolen is happy it will mitigate the chance of anything happening to her out of the gates.

“I can do whatever I want from there and I can keep her out of trouble, more importantly,” Nolen said.

“She is a very easy horse to ride and I will keep her happy and hopefully she will keep everyone there happy as well.”

Currently rated $1.04 favourite at bookmaker.com.au, the star’s next closest rivals are We’re Gonna Rock ($26.00) and Go The Knuckle ($31.00).

The race will jump as the seventh on an eight-race Morphetville card that also features plenty of other quality racing.

Kicking off the day at 12:30pm (Adelaide time) will be the Group 3 Jansz for two-year-olds and other highlights include the Port Adelaide Cup, SA Fillies Classic and the RA Lee Stakes.

Fancy yourseld to pick a winner at Morphetville? Head to bookmaker.com.au to get access to the best value odds and be rewarded with their new customer $300 bonus bet offer!

Black Caviar will finally make her appearance at Adelaide’s Morphettville racecourse tomorrow April 28, 2012.

The super mare will be out to post a record breaking 20th straight win when she runs in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes.

Black Caviar has captured the nation with her fantastic and never before seen winning streak.

Just nine competitors stand between her and her 20th race win, which is something trainer Peter Moody finds hard to comprehend.

“To bump off Desert Gold and Gloaming, two greats, from the record books and go past Zenyatta, one of the world’s champion mares, to be 20 from 20 is something I have to pinch myself about,” Moody said.

“Black Caviar has been an unbelievable ambassador for the sport.

“Her achievement may never be bettered and down the track, for my name to be mentioned alongside her, is a great feeling.

“This boy from Wyandra is pretty humbled to be a part of a truly great Australian story.”

While the 2012 Robert Sangster Stakes will the main attraction for the day, the 2012 Australasian Oaks is not to be forgotten.

Current favourite for the 2012 Australasian Oaks is Empress Rock, who will be looking to nab her first Group 1 title.

The Bart Cummings-trained filly won both the Group 2 Kewney Stakes and Group 2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic earlier this preparation, before finishing fifth in the Group 3 Schweppervescence Stakes last start.

Empress Rock is currently paying odds of $2.70 to win the 2012 Australasian Oaks at bookmaker.com.au.

Brilliant stayer Capecover and his stablemate Kerdem secured a great feature race quinella for their trainer and former champion hoop, Patrick Payne yesterday at Morphettville when they took out the top two spots in the testing $400, 000 Group 2 Adelaide Casino Adelaide Cup (3200m).

After sitting nearly last early on, Capecover ($5) and jockey Steven Arnold charged to the outside on the straight, securing the lead and holding on strong to win Adelaide’s premier staying event a length ahead of a gallant Kerdem ($6.50).

The Mark Kavanagh-trained Itstheone ($10) was a fast finishing third a mere short half-head away with the pre-race favourite Fairygem ($4.20) in fourth.

Payne was over the moon with the win, his most lucrative race day as a trainer. It was an historic moment for him too, as he had previously taken out the Adelaide Cup as a jockey aboard Our Pompeii in 1994.

Payne’s sister Michelle, who rode runner-up Kerdem, tried to claim some of the triumph for herself when she put in a protest against Capecover claiming interference on the straight. Stewards agreed there was contact between Capecover and Kerdem in the closing stages of the race, but not enough to overturn the results and the objection was thrown out.

Capecover may move on to the Group 1 Sydney Cup at Randwick on April 24.

Training duo Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas also had a successful day at the Morphettville meeting on Monday, taking out both the Group 2 Yallambee Classic and the Group 3 R N Irwin Stakes with their classy females Majestic Music and Augusta Proud.
